FOR CULTURAL AND SOCIAL ANTHROPOLOGY
About the Journal
Cargo is peer-reviewed journal published by the Czech Association for Social Anthropology (CASA) with collaboration with the Institute of Anthropological Studies at Comenius University in Bratislava, and Slovak Association of Social Anthropologists (SASA).
Cargo contains texts in Czech, Slovak, and English. Journal Cargo is listed in the European Reference Index for the Humanities (ERIH), section C.
Aims and scope
Cargo focus on theory-and-practice of ethnographic research, critical discussion of anthropological theory, and on ethical issues of conducting anthropological knowledge. The journal publishes academic articles, interviews with key scholars in anthropology, and texts debating methods of teaching anthropology.
Cargo seeks to present materials that are innovative, challenging, and sometimes experimental. As a journal publishing texts in Czech, Slovak, and English, Cargo aims to reach scholars whose fieldwork and topics are close to geographical area of Central and East Europe.
Peer review policy
Submitted manuscripts are initially reviewed by editor-in-chief and some other members of the editorial board for intrinsic quality, contribution to debate and suitability for the journal. Some submissions can be rejected or be returned with the recommendation to revise and resubmit at this stage, accompanied by comments. Papers that receive a balance of favourable reviews and are considered a high priority for space in the journal will be refereed by specialists in their subject matter. At this phase, the reviewing process is also anonymous: the authors´ names are always concealed from the reviewers´ and reviewers’ names are always concealed from the submitting author. Authors are then sent all the accumulated comments, which may contain suggestions for minor or more substantial revisions.
Decisions on manuscripts will be taken as rapidly as possible. Although Cargo aims to provide authors with a preliminary response within two months of submission, the increasing demands on the time of our specialist peer reviewers will sometimes result in longer turnaround times.

Cargo expects articles with maximal length of 63,000 characters, including notes and bibliography Articles must include an abstract (150-200 words) and five to ten key words.
